Cocktail Recipe: Bellini
A bellini? How bellissimo! This dazzling Italian cocktail is not only a pleasure for your taste buds but it looks just as elegant in your hand. A bellini has more body than the average cocktail and is a great alternative to the mimosa, not to mention it’s slightly more fancy… maybe because it’s Italian.
Many believe the Bellini’s distinctive sunset-shade reminded its bartender creator, Giuseppe Cipriani, of the strikingly chromatic paintings by Giovani Bellini – a 15th Venetian artist – hence, the name of the charismatic peach and prosecco cocktail.
- 120 ml chilled Prosecco or other sparkling wine
- 60 ml peach puree or peach nectar
- Peach slice for garnish (optional)
- Ice (optional)
Step 1:
If you prefer the cocktail chilled, fill a Champagne flute with ice. Add 60 ml of peach puree or peach nectar to the glass.
Step 2:
Top with 120 ml chilled prosecco or any other sparkling wine of your choice. Garnish with a peach slice, if desired.
Step 3:
Add any ice, if used, before serving.
Note:
If you’re using peach puree to make your bellini, you can make the puree mixture in advance and store in the refrigerator for up to a week. Then when you’re ready to create your masterpiece cocktail, simply follow the steps of the recipe and promptly serve after you’ve added the prosecco/ sparkling wine to keep the drink as bubbly as possible!
